War between two African neighbours!

The war has been officially declared by the Islamic leader of Somalia’s union of Islamic courts (U.I.C). He said that Somalia’s Islamic forces are at war with Ethiopia.The efforts of the European Union and the united states seem to be failed because the area is not about to calm down soon. The Somali Islamic and leader sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys said the media by telephone that they were in war with Ethiopia but not with the Somali government.

The latest fighting started on Tuesday and the union of Islamic forces gave a deadline to Ethiopian troops protecting the government to leave. Meanwhile the Somali government troops and U.I.C as well shelled each other with heavy artillery for a third day on Thursday. A spokesman of the U.I.C said that more than 200 Ethiopian were killed and that the town of idale has been captured while the government encircled strongholds around these 37 miles southwest of Baidoa city.

Aweys told the E.U envoy Louis Michel that he would really want to resumes talks and maintain peace in the region by returning to peace talks with government but the efforts by the international diplomats for the peace ideal is a total failure. For its part Ethiopia has denied its troops are fighting but said it has deployed hundreds of military trainers in order to support the Somali government.
