Technological tsunami!

The earthquake that hit Asia on Tuesday which magnitude was 6.7 in opened Richter scale killed two persons, injured some fifty others, scared the whole Asian population and is now damaging most of telecommunication services, those services are disrupted because of the undersea troubles caused by this violent earthquake. Thus internet and phone traffic might take some weeks to return as it were before; ships were dispatched on Thursday to repair the damaged undersea cables.

 

The repair of the cables will take about two weeks, for that sake four cable ships from Japan, Singapore and the Philippine are supposed to arrive and repair the cables on next Tuesday. The tragic incident will cost the region heavy financial loss and bad business management the earthquake is such a “technological tsunami” said an executive at one daily Hong Kong newspapers. Analysts say the financial losses could have been greater if the outages didn’t occur at that period of light business activity that is year-end holidays.

 Neighbouring countries are also affected by that since a great amount of telecommunication services damaged submarine optical cables. Out of the six undersea cables four were damaged by the quake and its aftershock, then slowing down data and internet connection as well as the region’s voice with the United States, Europe and India.
The telecommunication service providers are eagerly waiting for the repair of their cables to go back to their business and try to save what remains of their companies.
