Africa: Fighting between Islamic Somali and Ethiopian forces

Thousands of citizens fled ahead to the Kenyan borders about 100 miles far from their habitations in Kismayo escaping from the heavy weapons and rockets which invaded their houses and the silence of this rural area. Ethiopian army fitted by MIG fighter jets and heavy tanks in alliance with Somali troops attacked the Islamic militia in southern Somalia exactly in the port town of Kismayo in the aim to arrest or kill the opposition members according to the Somali Prime Minister Ali Mohamed Gedi.

 The fierce battle was heard from several miles around, the sound of rockets and bombs hitting buildings and land was so heavy that it made citizen terrified and confused which direction to take to find a safe shelter from this large fire exchange that demolished the area around. The Islamic activists hide in a thick mango forest making the mission for the MIGs and tanks harder and longer, all the Islamic militia retrieve to the forest after being fired by the planes flying over the city and which forces the Somali fighters to prompt for land affronting, according to a villager testimony.

 The head of the Islamic movement in the Kismayo region said, “We will kill every Somali that supports the government and Ethiopians”. Despite its weak position and field problems they are affronting the Islamic groups are ready to go on, their leader confirms to continue his war.
