ETA political wing still believe in peace.

After the Basque separatist group ETA bombed a garage at Madrid’s Barajas airport that injured twenty six persons and let two other men who were sleeping in their car reported missing, its political leader is trying to make the situation less worsen, indeed the political wing of ETA asked its group to explain the reason why it has bombed Madrid’s airport on Saturday.

 

A spokesman of Batasuna ETA’s political party said in a conference on Wednesday “peace process with Spain is not broken and we still do our best to maintain calm”. Another Basque official said the explosion was not expected by anyone, even tough there was a crisis. Spain socialist government has been accused by Joseba Alvares to don’t make any effort to create favourable conditions for a solution and doing no concrete steps.

  The man added the planting of a bomb without previously announcing an end of the ceasefire was something “new”, he said ETA should explain why it did act this way.  The ETA began fighting for a Basque nation since 1990, it is considered as a terrorist organization by the United States. The Basque movement declared a permanent ceasefire with the Spanish government on March, 2006, while Spain opened peace talks with it in June, 2006.
