A military spokesman reported on Wednesday a terrorist alleged to have a direct link with al Quaeda has been killed; he was accused of leading an Islamic unit of urban terror extremists. Binang Sali was killed in a brief gunfight with intelligence agents and army Scout Rangers in the village of Anuling outside Patikul town on Jolo Island late Tuesday, said Lt. Col. Bartolome Bacarro.

 

In southern Philippine a bomb exploded from a market killing six people and injuring 22 others. Few hours later there was another bombing in the same region near a police office that wounded two persons. Police and other security troops are on their highest alert because of the important weekend's twin Asian summits in the central city of Cebu. Many think Islamic militants might want to disrupt the summit; therefore lot of measure had been taken.

  The Hospital that tried to cure victims said two children we’re among the dead one was a boy of eight years old the other was 12 years old. Three people died immediately and two other succumbed to their wounds in the hospital while the sixth victim just dead on arrival. The government's terror sweep also led to the deaths of five other Abu Sayyaf members and an Indonesian militant in southern Tawi Tawi province last week and the arrest of a bomb suspect two days earlier just southeast of Manila.
